After reaching Islamabad, the journey continues on the Karakoram Highway, passing through Abbottabad, Mansehra, Besham, Dassu, and Chilas before arriving at Jaglot. The roads become increasingly mountainous after Besham, and caution is advised due to landslide-prone areas.

Traveling by Train from Quetta to Jaglot (Partial Journey)

Jaglot is not directly accessible by train. However, one can take a train to Rawalpindi or Islamabad and then continue the journey to Jaglot by road.

Jaglot is just about 45 km (28 miles) from Gilgit city. The most efficient way to reach Jaglot via air travel is by flying to Gilgit through Islamabad and continuing the journey by road.

1. Quetta → Islamabad by air – Approx. 1.5 hours

2. Islamabad → Gilgit by air – Approx. 1 hour

3. Gilgit → Jaglot by road – Approx. 45 km (28 miles), 1–1.5 hours

This is the most time-saving option, reducing travel from more than 24 hours by road to under 6–8 hours including all segments.

Note: Flights to Gilgit are subject to weather conditions and may be delayed or canceled, especially during winter and early spring.

Best Time to Travel

• May to October is the ideal period for travel to Jaglot. During these months, weather conditions are stable, and roads remain open.

• November to April may pose challenges due to snow, landslides, and blocked routes, particularly between Dassu and Chilas.

• Vehicle Type: A sturdy vehicle, preferably a 4x4, is highly recommended for travel past Mansehra due to mountainous terrain.

• Fuel and Food: Refuel in major cities like Sukkur, Multan, Islamabad, and Chilas. Keep snacks and water as roadside facilities become sparse after Besham.

• Security Checkpoints: Be ready for ID checks at various points, especially near the Gilgit-Baltistan entry zone. Carry your CNIC at all times.

• Mobile Coverage: Signal strength decreases after Dassu. In Jaglot, limited coverage is available depending on your network provider.
